The NASA funded the research and development of new advanced materials to enhance the reliability of the aeroponic method and minimize the vulnerability to maintenance. Further they found that the size of the micro-drops of an under high-pressure hydro-nebulized drizzle have to be of 5-50 micrometer, to ensure an aeroponic growth permanently.
For a permanent cultivation, the obfuscation-system has to be under high pressure, to be able to let the drizzle get in the compact root system. For the aeroponics it is essential that the repetitive intervals of the drizzle are accurate and the size of the hydro-nebulized drops stays the same. Due to the mineralization of the spray nozzle, the drizzle gets reduced and the supply of water and nutrient solution as well, which leads to an ecological imbalance of the air-crop.
They developed special low-mass polymeric materials, which prevent the mineralization of the hydro-nebulizing obfuscation-nozzles.
