Hydroponic DWC-System
It is advisable to start this kind of indoor cultivation with rock wool cubes. When the seeds start to sprout inside the rock wool cubes, place them in the, with expanded clay filled DWC-baskets. Fill the DWC system with water and hydroponic specific fertilizer so high, that the solution has contact with the bottom of the baskets.

This way the clay gets in contact with the solution, that is absorbed by the plant roots. The plant will soon develop a big root system that dips naturally into the nutrient solution. It is not necessary to keep the gauge of the nutrient solution at the same level with the bottom of the basket, since the results will be there also with a lower gauge. It is advisable so renew the nutrient solution once a week and to clean the container or aquarium with hot water to remove algae, mold and salt deposits.
With every filling of the container the pH-value of the solution should be measured and it has to be secured, that the value stays between 5,5 and 6,8. Use the pH-indicator to test the solution and monitor the pH-value constantly. The with oxygen highly enriched and illuminated surrounding boosts the growth of algae. Therefore, it is important to wrap the container or aquarium with black foil to protect them from light exposure.
