With an EC meter you measure the nutritional value of your water before and after adding fertiliser. EC meters are mainly used by home gardeners who grow with mineral fertilisers or by home gardeners who work with a very specific and precise nutrient plan. Unlike pH meters, EC meters don't really require much maintenance, but it doesn't hurt to calibrate them monthly to make sure the reading matches reality as closely as possible. The difference between an average and a lush yield is often in small details!
