Sonnenerde Soil Activator stimulates humus formation in the soil, ensuring that your plants receive an optimal supply of nutrients. This effect is immediately apparent after application in the form of improved plant growth. After several years of use, the soil activator transforms your soil into ‘Terra Preta’, which ultimately no longer requires fertiliser.

Trace elements and nutrients are retained on the surface of the charcoal and in the pores. However, these are still always available and the plants can help themselves as needed. Colonisation with humus biology allows humus formation in the soil to begin. The soil activator is absorbed by the existing soil biology and converted into soil humus.

Production

Organic biochar is acidified with sulphuric acid while still hot and then sprayed with ammonium sulphate. This increases the nitrogen content to up to 5%, which is metabolised into fungal protein during the subsequent composting process. After a few weeks, the process is complete – the finished soil activator is then finely sieved, removing most of the compost from the mixture.

Application

To fertilise existing soil for pot or tub plants, we recommend adding 3-5% soil activator (i.e. 3-5 litres per 100 litres of finished soil). The activator must be mixed well with the soil. Converted to area, this means 6-10 litres per square metre. Apply the activator and work it into the surface. So far, no overfertilisation has been observed with this activator. In scientifically conducted pot trials, up to 10% of the activator was mixed into the substrates – with excellent results!

In principle, the poorer the soil, the more activator can be used. The better the soil, the less noticeable the nutrient effect. However, the humus-building effect always remains and is greater the better the soil is!

The soil activator should be treated more like a fertiliser than a ready-made soil. Therefore, no more than 10% should be mixed into a substrate.
