Description

Milwaukee EC & TDS Nutrient Meter EC40 (waterproof)

  • Waterproof and buoyant
  • No calibration necessary
  • Switches off automatically
  • Adjustable alarm

An EC meter is used to measure the nutrient value of your water, both before and after adding fertilizer. It is an essential tool for home growers who prefer to determine the level of nutrients for their plants based on EC, rather than blindly following the manufacturer's feeding schedule. Each type of crop has its own specific nutrient requirements during both the growth and flowering phases. The precise adjustment of the level of fertilizer available to your growing or flowering crops can make the difference between a decent yield and an abundant harvest. The path to a successful harvest lies in the smallest details, and an Ec meter is an indispensable instrument in achieving such goals. The Milwaukee EC40 is a waterproof device that not only measures electrical conductivity (EC), but also measures Total Dissolved Solids (TDS). With a TDS measurement, you can measure ionized nutrient elements such as salts and minerals that are directly available for uptake due to their electrical charge.

Maintenance

When using the Ec/TDS electrode, nutrient deposits may accumulate over time. Rinse the probe with tap water after each use to prevent this.

Conversion from EC to TDS

The Milwaukee EC40 meter, like all other conductivity meters, measures the electrically charged ions in a nutrient solution and is purely a conductivity measurement instrument.

Ec is often converted to TDS, which stands for "parts per million" (ppm). The different scales include the 500, 650, and 700 scales. The EC40 provides all measurement values directly in EC/TDS/CF.

  • 1µS/cm = 0.5ppm on a 0.5 scale
  • 1µS/cm = 0.7ppm on a 0.7 scale (442)
