Hydro

Hydroponic plants grow in an anorganic substrate. To nourish the plants appropiately you add a watery solution that contains anorganical nutrient salts. Hydroponic fertilzer serves the stimulation of the flowering growth as well as the strengthening of the plant.

As an anorganic substrate you can use expanded clay, pebble, basalt, or mineral wool. You need special hydroponic fertilizer, because the substrate only makes sure that the plant is stabilized, it doesn´t nourish the plant itself though. To ensure that the ph-value doesn´t increase too drastically, it is recommended to use lime-free materials as a substrate.

A special advantage of hydroponic systems lies in the ability to exactly control the amount of needed hydroponic fertilizer. This way you can meet the special requirements of the plant. In addition to the special fertilizer the hydroponic cultures require, these systems also need special planters and most of these planters also have visual indicators for the water level. This way you can control the filling level of the nutrient solution optimally.

Another advantage of hydroponic systems is that the possiblity of ground vermins is very low. The change from soil cultures to hydroponic cultures can be more cost-intensive, because of the purchase of special planters and hydroponic fertilizers. Due to the small root volume of the plant as well as the water storage inside the planter, hydroponic systems seldomly have to be watered or repotted.
